Sukoon’s Roots
The story, meaning, and lineage behind Sukoon — and the values that guide this practice.

Sukoon (pronounced: Suh-koon) is more than a name — it’s a reflection of the deep values, personal lineage, and intentional care that shape my therapy practice. In Arabic, Sukoon (سكون) means deep tranquility, inner peace, and stillness — the kind of peace that arises when you are grounded in your truth and sense of self. It’s the exhale that comes when you stop bending yourself to fit what others expect and instead embody your authentic self.
What is Sukoon?
This practice carries the name of my great-grandmother, a woman whose matriarchal energy, deep wisdom, and unwavering sense of self shaped the generations that came after her. In choosing this name for my therapy practice, I’m honouring her legacy while creating a sanctuary where others can reconnect with their own inner stillness — the kind that is found when we no longer shrink or hide parts of ourselves to belong.
A Name Rooted in Legacy
A Space Born from Reclamation
Sukoon came into existence at a time when I realized that true peace cannot be found by seeking external validation or fitting into spaces that compromise your truth. It arises from standing firmly in your own integrity — even when the ground feels unsteady. This practice is the embodiment of that commitment: a space where both I and the people I work with are invited to root deeply in who we are, honour our lived experiences, and walk a path shaped by our own truth.
At its core, Sukoon exists to offer a kind of care that is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, heart-centered, and rooted in cultural humility — care that honours both the complexity of who you are and the systems that shape your experiences. Sukoon is more than a therapy practice — it is a space for self-trust, reclamation, and inner peace.
