Policies & Client Agreements
These policies are here to create clarity, trust, and a shared understanding of how we will work together. They outline important details about fees, cancellations, confidentiality, and session format, ensuring that our time together feels safe, structured, and respectful.
I invite you to take a moment to review them. If anything feels unclear, I’m happy to answer any questions.

For full details on my session fees and appointment types, please visit the Services page.
Payment is accepted via:
• E-transfer payments: they can be sent to the email provided at the time of booking.
• Credit card payments: they are processed securely through Jane App at the time of booking.
• A receipt will be provided after each session.
If you have insurance coverage for counselling/therapy, you may be able to submit your receipt for reimbursement.

I require 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. If you cancel, reschedule, or do not attend your appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, the full session fee will apply.
When you book a session, that time is reserved just for you. Without enough notice, I’m unable to offer that time to someone else who may have been waiting for an appointment. As a therapist, my practice is both a commitment to care and my livelihood, and this policy helps me sustain both while ensuring fairness for all clients.
Thank you for your understanding and respect for this agreement.

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the counselling process. The personal information you share in therapy will be kept strictly confidential, both during and after our work together. This ensures that therapy remains a safe and private space for your healing.
However, there are legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality where I may be required to disclose information. These include:
• If I believe that a child is at risk of abuse, neglect, or in need of protection.
• If I believe that you or another person is at clear risk of imminent harm.
• If I am legally required to disclose information, such as in response to a court order or subpoena.
Additionally, as part of professional best practices, I may seek peer consultation with other therapists. When doing so, I will only discuss relevant aspects of my work while ensuring that your identity remains fully confidential.
-
For online therapy sessions, I use Jane App, a secure and encrypted telehealth platform designed for healthcare professionals.
Jane is PIPEDA-compliant (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and meets high privacy and security standards to protect your personal health information. Your sessions are not recorded, and the platform is designed to ensure confidentiality in virtual care.
If you have any questions about confidentiality or privacy, please feel free to ask.

If you arrive late to your session, we will still end at the scheduled time out of respect for other clients and my availability. The full session fee will apply.
In the rare event that I am running late due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., a previous session running slightly over), I will inform you as soon as possible. If this happens, I will ensure you receive your full session time by extending the session or adjusting as needed.
